Chapter: 1016
“Mr. Sullivan, you haven't had dinner yet, right?" Joey added, his stares boring through Victor.
"I haven't." Victor Looked away. He swallowed and forced an answer out of his lips.
"Then we can eat together!" Joey turned to Rachel.
“Mommy, isn't this a good idea?"
"Joey, not everyone Likes to go to a muddled place like the snack street. Mr. Sullivan is a man that does not go well with too much ruckus. I don't think he wants to go with us," Rachel replied.
It took a quick second before Victor responded, "I'll go with you."
‘What?' Rachel was stunned.
At the same time, the Maybach stopped by the roadside.
Just beyond the car's boundaries, all kinds of snack stalls lined up by the roadside. People's shouts were unintelligible from afar, and with the car window rolled down, they could smell the sundry fragrance from the delicacies enticing them to step out of the car.
Since his father was going with them, Joey did not make an effort to hide his smiles. Instead, he was too excited to urge them out.
“Mommy, let's get out quickly!"
Seeing the excitement flourishing in Joey's eyes, Rachel would do anything to keep him out of disappointment's way, so she bobbed her head, swung the car door open and got out of the car.
Victor stepped out from the other side and said to Ivan, “Wait for us in the parking lot ahead."
"Okay." Ivan told the driver to park the car nearby.
The Maybach drove forward. Ivan took a look at the scene reflected by the rearview mirror and saw the scene they left behind: Joey held
Rachel's and Victor's hands. As they stood there together, they looked like a family.
The thought of the dead child from four years ago crossed Ivan's mind once again, making him sigh. Derailing his train of thoughts, his phone rang. It was a call from the laboratory.
As soon as Ivan answered the phone, the person on the other end of the line asked, "Hello, is this Ivan Chavez?"
"Yes, speaking."
"I'm sorry to bother you at this late hour. The reason why I'm calling you is because when we were sorting out the files, we found a result of the paternity test you asked for before."
Creasing his brows, Ivan asked in confusion, “Paternity test?"
"Yes. The samples are from Joey and Victor. Please spare some time to see this test result."
It was just a little past nine o'clock, and the snack street had started getting crowded. In front of each snack stall, there was a long line of customers who were waiting for their turns to be served.
The snack street here was different from the one that was near the
Red Hackers headquarters both in terms of style and quantity. Looking around curiously, Joey wished he could go to every stall and have a taste of what they offered.
