Chapter: 1024
Rachel's arm.

Rachel gently held Joey's head and engulfed him in a hug so that he could sleep more comfortably. However, a pair of hands suddenly snaked in and took Joey from her.

Rachel's arms hung empty in the air as she maintained the gesture of holding Joey. She looked up at the owner of another pair of hands who snatched Joey from her.

The little boy was lifted up in the air. He seemed to have been disturbed from his sleep and moved uneasily in Victor's arms. But he was too exhausted from enjoying himself in the food street to struggle more. After moving for a while, he tried to settle himself until he found a comfortable posture and fell asleep once again.

Rachel then withdrew her hand and looked at Joey who was snuggled cozily in Victor's arms. Her lips were ajar as she wanted to say that it would have been fine that she held him in her arms all the way to the Sue Garden. But as fast as she parted her lips to voice out her protest, she realized that it seemed inappropriate.

She subconsciously wanted to initiate a clean break between Joey and

Victor, so she was itching to take the child back from the man's arms.

But she forgot that in everyone's eyes, Joey was Victor's nephew, and she was just Joey's sworn mother.

From wherever she looked, both in terms of blood relationship or whether or not they were close to Joey, she hated to admit that it was less likely to cause unnecessary eyebrows raising if Joey and

Victor were that familiar with each other. As his uncle, he naturally wanted to hug his nephew. On the other hand, she did not seem to have any right to stop him as a mere sworn mother.

“He's too heavy," Victor said in a deep voice.

Rachel was harshly pulled back to her senses when she heard this inexplicable sentence. She did not know what to say for a moment until she was able to ask, "What?"

However, Victor made it clear that he did not want to explain.

Rachel lengthened her thread of patience and waited for a while, but he kept his mouth shut. The silent treatment he was giving her after initiating a conversation made her feel that she had spoken out of turn. She tore her gaze off him to look out of the window. The man was too unpredictable.

Ivan glanced at the back seat through the rearview mirror when he heard what Victor said. He discreetly slammed his palm on his forehead and pulled a heavy sigh. He could not help but wonder how

Rachel could have taken a fancy to a man like Victor once in her life.

The Maybach turned on a curb, indicating they were about to reach the Sue Garden.

Ivan could not stand it anymore and explained, "Miss Bennet, well, Mr.

Sullivan said that Joey is heavy, and for that reason, he didn't want you to hold him. He was afraid that you would exhaust yourself.

Am I right, Mr. Sullivan?"

Rachel's mouth twitched and she glanced at Victor from her periphery.

Victor was sitting inches away from her had Joey not been seated between them. His one arm was secured around Joey to prevent him from falling, while the other was holding his phone and tapping on it as if he was texting. Even though he heard Ivan's question, his countenance remained expressionless and he did not say anything.

Ivan did not know what to say. Perhaps it was unnecessary of him to defend Victor who did not give a care to the world. ‘Mr. Sullivan, do you still want to get Miss Bennet back or not?!"

By the time the awkwardness started to creep in once again, the

Maybach reached the Sue Garden's premise and stopped at the open space just right before the villa.
