Chapter: 1063
"You haven't told me the reason behind your asking this question all of a sudden..." Quintin had not finished what he was saying before the call ended.
Joey didn't pay careful attention to Quintin's words. When he saw the vehicle come to a slow stop, he hung up the phone and subconsciously reached out to open the door. But it was to no avail.
The boy soon remembered that Carson had locked the doors just before leaving. After a few seconds, his phone rang.
It was a message from Quintin.
“What's going on?"
Joey pursed his lips while he glanced at the driver who just got out from the other car. The man was going to open the door for the person sitting at the back. Joey recalled what Quintin had just said, and soon understood why Roger invested in Bennet Group secretly in the name of a new company.
Roger had an interest in Joey's mother.
At first, Joey was a little worried about the fact that Roger might do things out of his evil will towards his mother. But from the look of things, his intentions didn't seem to be the ones that would hurt her.
This made Joey heave a sigh of relief. His hands propped his cheek.
His elbows leaned against the edge of the window. Then, he inhaled and exhaled slightly. His father actually had quite a good number of rivals in love!
In no time, the man who sat in the back seat of the Bentley alighted the vehicle.
It was none else but Roger.
However, because of the distance as well as the people and vehicles passing by, Joey couldn't observe his face clearly from the car he was locked in across the road. When he finally caught a glimpse of
Roger's back, Joey's curiosity became aroused. The boy wondered what kind of person he was. He raised himself, stretched out his hand through the gap of the window and tried hard to grab the door handle.
The only way of unlocking the door was from outside.
He heard a click sound and it opened at last!
Joey got out of the passenger seat in a swift manner.
He looked around for a moment and strode towards Roger.
There was a loud "ding" sound outside the operating room of the hospital.
The elevator doors slid open rather slowly. Susan, in a patient's gown, rushed out. She saw Tammy sitting on the bench with both of her hands covering her face.
“Mom!" Susan said while gazing at the dazzling red light above the operating room. She moved her lips with difficulty.
The moment Tammy raised her head, she stood up, as if she had seen a life-saving straw. She held Susan's hand tightly.
"Susan, your father... What on earth are we going to do if something happens to your father? How do you think we can manage to live in the future?"
She looked at Susan.
In the theater, James had been lying on the operating room table for over half an hour.
