Chapter: 1438
At the mention of his parents’ past, Joey tilted his head in curiosity.

Their history had always intrigued him, but his mother never mentioned anything about it. Joey knew very little about his father.

And even after he found out who he was and asked Quintin to tell him more information, Quintin only badmouthed Victor.

That was how Joey came to the conclusion that his father was an unpardonable scum.

Later, the news regarding Victor's wedding further convinced Joey that his father was just like Quintin described him.

"Do you know what happened between my mommy and that bastard?" Joey inquired.

“Bastard? Wait, what?" Hector thought he heard it wrong.

"Did you just call your father bastard?"

Without hesitation, Joey nodded with a grim expression.

Astonished, Hector had to clamp his mouth shut to prevent it from opening too wide. He had witnessed a lot of interesting things in his 7@ years of living, but he could not fathom why Joey would think so poorly of Victor. He could not help but wonder why.

Was Victor a bad father?

Suddenly, Hector burst into laughter.

Joey blinked. He looked at the older man with furrowed brows, trying to understand what was so funny. When he failed, he figured it must be because of the wide age gap between them.

Finally, Hector stopped laughing.

"Do you want to know the story between your mother and father? I know a lot about them."

Joey pressed his lips together and did not say a word.

“If you promise me one thing, I'll tell you everything you want to know. How does that sound?" Hector knew it was useless to deceive a smart boy like Joey, so he could only compromise with him.

“What is it?" Joey questioned, still frowning.

Hector smiled.

"Bail your father out."

Lila exited the supermarket with a shopping bag full of ingredients and walked her way to the Bennet family's house.

She was almost at her destination when a silver-gray car passed by her. Stopping in her track, she examined the vehicle, but it was moving too fast. She could get a glimpse of a figure through the back window.

Uncertainty swirled in her stomach as Lila looked at the license plate that was getting smaller and smaller with each passing second.

She had never seen that car around before.

Maybe she was just overthinking it, though. The Bennet family's house was located in a coastal area near the York Sea, and they were not the only wealthy family living there, so of course, there would be unfamiliar vehicles that would pass by their neighborhood every now and then.
