Chapter: 1480
This awful man, along with Tara, poisoned her. Her life slowly slipped from her fingers, and all they did was laugh at her four years ago. Whatever Wallace was suffering through right now could never compare to that tragic incident.
Odin turned to Rachel, staring at her face.
No fear or hesitation could be seen on her face, and it seemed as though she was handling the situation quite well.
Truthfully, Odin wasn't surprised that this was her reaction, but he didn't expect her to be this calm.
Anyone who saw someone's arm being dislocated and screaming would be dumbstruck by fear. But her composure at this moment proved who
Rachel truly was.
As far as Odin knew, King of Hearts was an indomitable figure in the
Red Hackers. Though she never got involved in battles between opposing parties, stayed neutral, and always focused on her missions, many people seemed to have forgotten that becoming a member of the
Red Hackers wasn't an easy task. Every member was a talented and ambitious individual.
And an ambitious person could potentially dominate a disadvantaged troupe.
But when faced with a stronger team, an ambitious person would either be knocked down and become someone else's stepping stone or thrive and trample others underfoot. Since the King of Hearts managed to maintain her position for a long time, even after disappearing for several years on end, none could call her a coward.
Something this trivial probably didn't faze her in the slightest.
Odin's interest in Rachel increased by tenfold.
"You don't seem happy with the outcome," Odin said, staring at her intently.
Rachel withdrew her gaze, acting like she didn't understand his statement.
"What do you mean by that?"
“How do you know him?" Odin asked, knowing that she was merely pretending like she had no clue what he meant.
"You probably won't believe me if I tell you that I just met him at the cafe downstairs, would you?" Rachel smirked, sat down, and reached for the glass of water on the table. The second her fingertips touched the edge of the glass, a memory came rushing back to her, causing her to withdraw her hand in silence.
Odin didn't respond, but his eyes showed that his curiosity was still unsated.
Before Rachel could get another word in, a phone rang. The tension in the air was shattered by its ringtone.
It was Odin's phone.
He glanced at the caller ID, and then he darted his eyes back to
Rachel before picking up the phone and walking to the floor-to- ceiling windows.
Meanwhile, Rachel sat cross-legged on the sofa, tapping her fingers on her thighs rhythmically.
Quintin said on the other Line, "Boss, I can see that your brain waves are still active. What's on your mind?"
