Chapter: 1549
“Now that this office is finally yours, how can I not come and check it out?" Maria walked to the desk and looked at the word "CEO" engraved on the golden nameplate. She could not help but touch it.
She had waited for this day for several years. There was no way she would not come to see it with her own eyes.
"By the way, do you still remember Hank Santos' daughter? She just came back today. You haven't seen each other for a long time, so I thought I should invite her to have dinner with us."
Soon after Maria finished speaking, she was eager to show Odin the photo she had prepared, so she took out her phone without wasting a moment.
It was a photo of a pretty girl sitting on a swing in the midst of a garden of beautiful flowers. Her long pink dress was just as beautiful as the flowers around her.
“Hank's daughter studied abroad and worked there after her graduation.
A while ago, Hank found out that he had a heart condition during a regular check-up. Since she is his only daughter, he asked her to come home and take over the family business." Maria was more pleased with the girl in the picture the longer she looked at her.
She felt that even though the Santos family was not as powerful as the Sullivan family, Hank had a lot of connections in the political circle, and their family had many well-known scholars. Maria had also heard of how meek and well-educated Hank's daughter was. She was raised to be very gentle and ladylike with an exceptionally elegant temperament. Considering those things, she felt that it could be wonderful if the Sullivan family and the Santos family could be related by marriage.
Besides, a gentle daughter-in-law would be very easy to handle.
Since Hank's daughter seemed like the stone that could strike two birds in one shot, Maria was indeed intrigued by the idea. When she was at a party, she heard from her best friend that Hank's daughter had come back, so she invited Hank's wife, Melissa, to join her for afternoon tea. Maria had a lot to ask her about her daughter, and she wanted to find out how Melissa felt about marrying her daughter off to Odin.
Maria was expecting Melissa to either agree or refuse her suggestion, but she replied flatly, "It's their decision, after all. The days of arranged marriages are gone now. People these days want to be free and choose whom they love and marry on their own."
"Of course! If they do get married, it will be a good thing for us, won't it? After all, our families could become one. And if they don't, they can still be friends," Maria echoed.
But the truth was that she did not exactly think that way.
The Sullivan family was much wealthier than the Santos family, and
Odin was the CEO of Sullivan Group, not to mention he was very handsome.
There were many girls lined up to marry him. She felt that there was no way for Melissa's daughter to refuse someone Like Odin.
The only reason she was even willing to discuss marriage with the
Santos family was because she had high regards for them.
Odin glanced at the photo Maria showed him and turned away.
"I have a few meetings to attend this evening, so I won't have time to meet her."
Maria put her phone away and said, “You don't have time? Didn't you just say that you would come back home for dinner? Don't forget the promise you made to me, Odin!"
"I just have something urgent that I need to deal with, okay?"
“What kind of meeting is more important than your future?" Maria had gone to great lengths to prepare and arrange such an exquisite dinner for him. It was such a wonderful evening. How could she not be excited about it?
"Come in." Without even answering her, Odin pressed the call button on the desk.
A moment later, a man dressed in a black suit and wearing sunglasses appeared at the door.
