Chapter: 1554
“I did not know you were married." Rachel took the cup from her and sipped on the coffee.
The warmth from the liquid dispelled the chill in her body.
“A lot can happen in four years." Eva sat down across her.
“Actually, even I didn't think I would get married. But sometimes, our hands are tied, and we can't think too much about it.”
Rachel lowered her gaze, seemingly understanding what she meant.
Four years was neither too long nor too short a time.
However, it was enough to make people and their Lives change.
Rachel felt like Eva always spoke for Victor. Although she didn't say it clearly, she was trying to say Rachel was not the same woman she used to be, and Victor had also changed a lot in the four years.
Rachel remained silent, giving nothing but a faint smile.
Knowing that she probably shouldn't talk about it, Eva stood up and went to the break room again to get some cake.
"It's almost lunch time now. My colleague brought some cake yesterday.
Miss Bennet, please have some. Hunger can confuse a person. But sweets can make you feel better."
Rachel looked up at her and said, "Get back to work and don't worry about me. I just want to sit here for a while."
"Then I'll do that. If you need anything, you can call me."
"Okay."
Eva closed the studio door on her way out and pushed the moving clothes stand out of the room.
Rachel sat alone in the large room.
Warm colors were used to decorate the entire first floor of the studio. On the sofa was a soft blanket, and in front of the coffee table was an LED heater that was used to mimic flames. The room was warm throughout.
Outside the French window, Rachel could see snow. There was a thin layer of snow on the lawn in the yard.
She was lost in thought as she gazed out the window.
She didn't know why she decided to come here, but at least it was the right decision. Sitting there, she was at peace.
Eva eventually finished her work. Coming back, she noticed Rachel dozing off on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around her and her head tilted to one side.
She crept up behind Rachel and gently pulled the blanket over her shoulder.
Being a light sleeper, Rachel was awakened.
"I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" Eva immediately withdrew her hand.
