Chapter: 1589
Alice was startled.
It wasn't because Rachel believed that it would be better to let
Alice live and suffer or that she was kind. The only reason she didn't kill Alice was that she wanted something from her.
She had no idea why Alice would take Abby away. Alice didn't have anything against Abby. On top of that, Rachel only found Abby by the time she was rushed to the hospital. How on earth did Alice find out about that?
What could have transpired between Alice and Abby before Abby died?
Back then, there was no time left for Rachel to dig deeper. Her focus was directed on how to escape from Apliaria and Victor, so she decided to let Alice escape. Today, she would have all her questions answered.
"Who informed you of Abby's whereabouts?"
Four years ago, Sasha pushed Abby down the hill. Abby hit the back of her head on a stone, causing her to pass out.
When she came to, she was already in the hospital.
Sherwood was the one guarding her then. Upon seeing her awake, he came to her side and asked if she remembered who had pushed her.
Abby looked up at him and was about to answer when she remembered
Sasha's words before pushing her. She pressed her lips together, shook her head, and croaked, “I don't remember, Mr. Warren. It must have been an accident."
Sherwood regarded her skeptically and wanted to ask more. But judging from Abby's expression, he knew she wouldn't tell on Sasha.
Even if Sherwood wanted to seek justice for her, he couldn't do anything if Abby refused to expose the truth.
Sherwood let out a sigh.
"Okay. Take a rest. You can leave here in two days."
"Leave?" Abby was confused. She was in the prison ward. Did it mean she would be released from prison too?
"Yes. Someone will pick you up by then. Rest while you're here."
Sherwood didn't elaborate on the matter and left after that.
Abby lay in the bed and stared absently at the ceiling. Recalling what Sherwood had said, tears welled in her eyes.
"It must be Miss
Bennet. It has to be her. She'll come and take me out of here."
Meanwhile, in a private room of a high-end club in Apliaria, the sharp sound of breaking glass resounded.
“Bitch! How dare you?" Jacob Fuller stood in rage and slapped Alice across the face.
His hand fell heavily on her cheek in a loud thud.
