Chapter: 1631
“I apologize. I'm not feeling well, Mr. Sullivan. I'm afraid I'11 have to take a rain check on dinner.”
Alberto refused.
His refusal was decisive, leaving no opening for Odin to extend another invitation. After all, he had mentioned feeling sick. If Odin were to insist on dining together now, it would be inconsiderate.
A spiteful glint crossed Odin's eyes.
"Mr. Sullivan, you can dine with Alberto once he's feeling better.
The opportunity will present itself," Edmond chimed in with a smile.
"Alberto has struggled with his health since childhood. In fact, besides paying respects to his ancestors, he's returned to consult a doctor."
Raising his eyebrows, Odin replied, "My apologies. I hadn't considered that. Mr. Gibson, have you managed to find a doctor that suits your needs? If not, I can help you find a good doctor."
"Thank you for your generosity. I have found a doctor."
"That's good to hear. Mr. Gibson, you don't appear well. Please take care of yourself." Odin's words were devoid of emotion, yet they sounded odd.
Alberto remained silent.
At that moment, a woman wearing a dress with curly hair gracefully approached Edmond, asking respectfully, "Mr. Stanley, can we start the auction?"
“Let's begin." Edmond agreed.
Once the woman received permission, she promptly turned and walked to the stage at the front of the venue. The audience recovered from their astonishment at Alberto's return to Apliaria and his evident illness, returning to their seats.
Edmond glanced at Odin, smiling.
"Mr. Sullivan, please be seated."
Odin nodded and headed to his seat.
Placing his hand on the back of Alberto's wheelchair, Edmond said,
"Alberto, it's more convenient for you to sit up front with me."
“Thank you, Mr. Stanley."
“What? You called me Master earlier, but now you address me as Mr.
Stanley?"
After a brief pause, Alberto smiled and said softly, "Master."
Satisfied, Edmond nodded and slowly made his way to the front with his cane. Alberto glanced at his assistant, who understood the cue and moved behind the wheelchair, pushing it forward.
The auction officially began.
