Chapter: 1641
"Well... I'm not getting any younger. I wish to settle down," Quintin admitted, somewhat embarrassed.
“Are you going to get married?"
Quintin was indeed a rare talent—highly skilled, quick-witted, and not to mention, quite the looker. He had numerous admirers in the alliance, yet he had never reciprocated anyone's feelings.
Rachel was intrigued as to who had managed to capture his heart.
"No." Quintin was quick to deny.
"I... I need to find a girlfriend first. I...
I have only kept aside the money as a safety measure."
Rachel decided not to probe further.
Though her curiosity was piqued, she had an unspoken understanding of Quintin and refrained from asking too much.
"So, considering you saved that money for your wedding, are you willing to use it to purchase a hairpin for me?"
"You're my boss. Of course, I'd be willing to do it for you," Quintin responded.
Rachel cast her eyes down, her mind wandering back to the hairpin. Indeed, it was a marvel to behold, its beauty and elegance further magnified under the luminescence of the incandescent light.
But from another point of view, the hairpin's worth did not even come close to twenty million.
Even if she liked it, it was not worth it.
“What brought you to the Moran family?" Rachel changed the conversation in a different direction.
"I didn't do it intentionally. I went through the resumes and it seemed like the Moran family was the most suitable one. I heard that the family has been facing financial difficulties lately. So, I proposed an offer—twenty percent of the auction price—and they accepted."
Rachel's request had sprung out of the blue. Quintin couldn't have possibly arranged his personnel to infiltrate the auction from the onset, so he had to improvise and seek the most agreeable candidate available.
And it seemed that those who were in need of money were the most compliant.
Rachel's face turned grim as she opened Twitter and came across the trending topics. Two of them caught her attention. “Elliott Foster and influential agent Rosa Moran spotted together at a hotel" and "Shocking revelation: Elliott and Rosa rumored to have a secret daughter."
Rachel mulled over Odin's recent commentary on the Moran family. They had certainly been dealing with their fair share of internal issues.
