Chapter: 1708
Klein glanced at the woman with long hair. He didn't say anything, but the arrogance on his face was very apparent.
The woman with long hair chuckled. To break the stalemate, she said, "By the way, Karen, you are supposed to introduce someone to us, right?"
It was only then that Karen remembered Rachel next to her. She patted her forehead, regretting forgetting such an important thing.
"Oh, yes! I almost forgot."
The woman with long hair had already noticed Rachel long ago. She asked, “It must be the lady next to you, right?"
Karen nodded.
“Yes, that's right. Guys, this is Rachel Bennet, one of our project team members. She will be our colleague from now on.”
"Rachel Bennet... The one mentioned in the email?"
Karen looked at the chubby man in confusion.
"What email?"
The chubby man opened his email on his laptop.
"A minute before you entered the conference room, the company headquarters sent us a letter of appointment."
"What Letter of appointment?" Ethan asked. He was also confused.
“A letter appointing Rachel Bennet as the deputy manager of our project team."
Karen and Ethan exclaimed in unison, “Deputy manager?"
The chubby man nodded, ignoring Karen's and Ethan's shocked expressions. He walked over in front of Rachel and forced a smile, pulling the fats on his face.
"Hello, Miss Bennet. My name is Barnett Anderson."
Rachel also just found out that she was appointed as the deputy manager of this project, and she was surprised. However, she reacted faster than Karen and the others. She looked at Barnett and said, "You don't have to be too polite. Just call me Rachel."
Barnett grinned and said, “Okay, Miss Bennet."
Rachel was rendered speechless.
“Barnett, you are such a philistine," Karen couldn't help mocking when she saw Barnett grinning like a sycophant.
Barnett glared at Karen, but she just ignored him. She turned to Rachel and said, "You just said you didn't know what you came here for. It turns out you were lying to me."
"No, I didn't lie to you," Rachel said.
But she didn't explain further. After all, she also didn't know why she was appointed as the deputy manager of this project. Alberto hadn't informed her. And even if she knew, she didn't feel obligated to explain it to her new colleagues whom she didn't know yet.
