Chapter: 1725
Rowell's gaze on Rachel became more intense.
"You seem to be quite detail-oriented." The statement appeared harmless, but Rowell's intention to test her did not go unnoticed by Rachel.
"I try to be versatile."
Rowell examined the tea box in his hand, deep in thought. It wasn't just a matter of being versatile. It was more like she knew each person's preferences. His coffee allergy wasn't exactly a secret, but his affinity for this particular type of tea was known to only a handful of people.
Given his position, disclosing too many personal preferences could potentially expose him to manipulation, despite his cautious nature.
So, he chose to keep those preferences concealed from the public eye.
Rachel's choice of tea happened to align perfectly with his preferences.
However, she didn't seem to intentionally cater to his Likes. It seemed like the tea was genuinely a fortunate coincidence.
For the first time, Rowell found himself unable to read someone's intentions.
After the polite exchanges, the meeting was set to commence.
Klein had his head down and a firm grip on his pen, applying significant pressure to it. The veins on the back of his hand swelled as he struggled to suppress his emotions.
Rowell took a sip of the tea and said, "Miss Bennett, please begin the introduction."
"To be honest, I've only recently taken charge of this project, and there are still some aspects I haven't fully grasped. So, my introduction may not be as thorough as I'd like it to be," Rachel said with a smile.
"That's why I'd prefer to have my team member, Klein, handle the introduction."
With her statement, she turned to Klein.
Klein, too, was surprised. He raised his eyes to meet hers.
Klein locked eyes with Rachel and he slowly rose from his seat, seemingly pondering what she intended to achieve.
He found her intentions somewhat inscrutable.
After all, he was the one who hadn't shown her any respect and looked down on her. She should have aimed to embarrass him in front of the Health Bureau representatives.
However, she now entrusted him with the key introductory role in the meeting.
Klein's expression grew more thoughtful, showing a blend of confusion and surprise. For a moment, he even wondered if he was being overly sensitive.
"What's the matter? Are you not prepared?" Rachel asked when she noticed him sitting still, lost in contemplation.
Klein quickly refocused.
"I'm prepared."
