Chapter: 1743
Rachel shifted her gaze away, first looking at Odin, then at Alberto in his wheelchair. She greeted them politely in response, "Good evening, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Gibson.”
Witnessing Rachel's eyes meet Alberto's in mid-air, Odin furrowed his brow. An uncomfortable sensation welled up in his chest, for some reason.
He didn't appreciate the way she regarded Alberto.
Odin calmly moved to block her gaze.
"Don't just stand there. Come inside."
It was a directive. As he spoke, he glanced at Alberto secretly, as if his tone asserted that Rachel belonged to him and he had the power to make her comply with anything he desired.
Rachel observed a hint of displeasure in Odin's eyes but didn't give it much importance. She proceeded to enter the private box.
“Please, take a seat here," Odin suggested, pulling out a chair next to him.
Alberto coincidentally maneuvered his wheelchair to a stop nearby, and there was an empty seat beside him. Dewey had pulled out the chair, assuming that Rachel would sit there.
The room filled with tension.
Rachel noticed Odin's cold stare and, after a brief pause, decided to sit next to him.
Odin's lips formed a satisfied grin.
"I'm glad you still know who you are."
With a fake smile, Rachel responded, “Who am I? Mr. Sullivan, we're merely business partners."
“Of course I know." Odin appeared unaffected by her response, seemingly confident that having Rachel by his side gave him an advantage, easing his earlier annoyance.
Alberto's expression grew more intense.
"Mr. Gibson, the project is going well, isn't it?" Odin asked, casually swirling his wine.
"Yes," Alberto replied succinctly. Even though he noticed Odin raising his goblet, he had no intention of following suit.
Odin narrowed his eyes playfully and probed, “I hope Shelia hasn't been a burden to you. Although she's been with me for a while, her knowledge of the projects is limited. She's never managed one independently. Mr. Gibson, your sudden decision to include her in your project. Bluntly speaking, I was surprised."
As he spoke, he glanced at Rachel with apparent interest.
In others' eyes, his look seemed affectionate.
But Rachel could see through to the cunning and tentativeness in his eyes. Odin had naturally affectionate-looking eyes. When he gazed at someone, it appeared tender and caring. However, there was a distinct lack of sincerity in his eyes. His words weren't meant to understand her perspective; rather, he was gauging Alberto's reaction towards her.
Dewey handed Alberto a glass of water.
Alberto accepted it with composure and took a sip. Responding to Odin's query, he simply stated, "She's been no trouble at all."
