Chapter: 1747
“Where are you headed at this late hour?" Davenport Scott stood up, leaning on his cane, and fixed his gaze on him.

Carson cleared his throat, feeling a bit embarrassed.

“I can't fall asleep. Just want a joyride."

"A joyride? You're going to visit that girl from the Moran family, aren't you?" Davenport saw him through immediately with his eagle- sharp eyes.

Carson's lips twitched as he denied, "Grandpa, I'm not three years old anymore. I'm already 30, I don't need to report my whereabouts to you, do 1?"

“Humph!" Davenport let out a snort in response. He strolled towards the stairs while leaning on his cane.

Carson turned to watch him as he walked away, his figure receding.

When Davenport reached the second floor, he seemed to sense Carson's gaze and turned to look at him.

"Show some competence. Take a girl home. Stop fooling around! Otherwise, no woman will want to marry you."

Carson choked.

"Grandpa!"

“Enough. Enough. I'm sleepy. I'm a light sleeper. If you return too late, don't enter. Or you'll interrupt me." Then, he walked away.

Carson observed his grandfather until the man disappeared from view.

His thoughts swirled in his mind, and he lost track of time. When he finally snapped out of it, he gripped the car keys firmly and made his way outside.

Right outside the third floor's innermost room of the Moran family residence, June Moran knocked on the door and called softly, "Rosa."

Soon, the door swung open.

Standing by the door, Rosa gazed at June with slight indifference.

"Mom."

“Has Maya already gone to bed?" June asked, trying to peer into the room.

Seeing what June was up to, Rosa subtly obstructed the view. She frowned and said, "Yes, she's sleeping. If she hadn't fallen asleep, I would have taken her back tonight.”

Rosa's words of detachment wounded June. Her eyes welled up with tears.

"Rosa, this is your home. Do you intend to break my heart by saying that? Even if you and Maya stay here forever, no one will push you out."

Gazing at the tearful woman before her, Rosa held her composure and stated, "I'll leave with Maya tomorrow when she wakes up."

“Rosa... Why do you have to talk to me like that?" Tears streamed down June's face.
