Chapter: 1815
The first time was when Rosa was a child and had a high fever, which caused her to cry. However, Libby also had a fever, and June was taking care of her.
Rosa was crying when she called June. June's weary voice came through the phone. "Rosa, please be a good girl. Take your medicine and go to sleep. You'll feel better soon. Your sister is not feeling well, and I can't leave her. When she recovers, I'll come to you, okay?
Forgive me; I beg of you."
Rosa felt sorry for June and stopped making a fuss. She endured the discomfort and forced herself to eat her meals and take her medicine alone so as not to distract June.
The second time was four years ago, when June appeared at her doorstep. June stayed up with her, holding her hand.
Rosa had thought that her biological mother was finally on her side.
But during dinner, she said, "Rosa, Libby loves Carson. Could you let go of him for her? I know it's an unfair and unreasonable request, but Libby has feelings for Carson for more than a decade now. Ever since she found out that you're with Carson, she has not been herself. She has lost quite a bit of weight."
Rosa looked down at the dishes June had prepared.
Her maternal love was just a bargaining chip.
“What do you want me to do?" Rosa asked, tightly gripping her fork.
She felt as though someone had squeezed tightly at her heart.
“Libby rarely develops such feelings for a person. I'm begging you, Rosa, break up with Carson. Libby is your sister. Can you watch her condition continue to deteriorate?"
Rosa smiled at June sarcastically.
However, she said nothing. She silently began to eat. Even the dishes she didn't like, she forced herself to eat. After the meal, she put down her fork and said, "Okay."
Rosa snapped out of her reverie.
She shouldn't have hoped for maternal love.
June had made her choice abandoned her own daughter.
Now she was here again for the third time.
June was on her knees, pleading, as tears streamed down her face.
“What is it you beg for this time?" Rosa asked coldly.
June reached out to take Rosa's hand, but Rosa backed away, avoiding her touch. Seeing her biological mother kneel in front of her for another person hurt her deeply.
She had thought it would have no effect on her.
But when June kneeled in front of her, Rosa's heart hurt.
“Libby is your sister. Please don't call the police. Forgive her. I beg of you," June said, her voice trembling.
