After entering, Rosa led the way into their home, with Maya pulling Carson by the hand to follow.

"You don't need to change your shoes," Rosa mentioned, noticing Carson's glance around the entryway for perhaps a place to leave his shoes.

"There are no slippers for men," Carson remarked, almost as if it slipped out without thought.

Rosa offered no reply, instead turning to the kitchen.

Maya released his hand, disappearing into her room, leaving Carson to wander into the living room. He eased onto the sofa, taking in his surroundings with a sense of familiarity.
