Catching the change in Rachel's complexion, Rosa expressed her concern. “Rachel, are you okay?"

"What?" Startled, Rachel looked her way. "Yes, I'm fine."

"Why come here after being discharged? This place holds nothing but sorrow, and you had no ties to Maria." Rosa frowned.

"I was once her daughter-in-law. It felt appropriate to pay my respects," Rachel stated, her tone detached.

Her presence there was not out of a sense of duty to Maria's memory, but a need to see the conclusion of Maria's story for herself.
