Rachel exchanged a look with Alberto and nodded. She then smiled at Averie and said, "Miss Ortiz."

Averie snapped back to reality and turned to look at Rachel. She hadn't gotten the chance to ask Rachel's name before, but with a quick look, she realized she was Alberto's plus-one tonight.

"Hello! Please, call me Averie." Averie, with her tidy short hair, raised her hand and brushed her hair behind her ear.
