As Rachel met Alberto's gaze, she remembered the relationship web she had drawn on the tablet. Pausing briefly, she slid her hand behind her back and quietly canceled the taxi reservation on her phone.

"Nothing," she said with a forced smile. “Just a little surprised."

"Surprised about what?" Alberto asked.

“Kathryn called and said she was worried about me going out alone at night, so she arranged for a ride," Rachel explained, surprised by Kathryn's thoughtfulness.

Alberto's expression softened, and he turned around to start walking.
