Instead of probing further, Alberto simply turned off the bedside lamp, casting the room into darkness.

"It's getting late. Let's get some sleep." Uncharacteristically, Alberto didn't ask Allen to leave but instead made space for Allen to lie down. Then he shut his eyes.

What Allen didn't realize was that Alberto was also troubled.
