"No." Came Wendell's cold reply.

Averie's tears "You must be, or you wouldn't treat me like this. ... flowed freely. "I know I messed up. Please don't be mad. Please.."

Wendell couldn't bear to see her cry.

As he wiped away her tears, he asked softly, "You enjoy making decisions on your own, right? Now you're worried I'm angry?"
