"Did I say it was you?" the man snapped, his temper rising. "Don't you get it? I'm speaking hypothetically. A hypothetical situation isn't real. Get it?"

His unfriendly tone and cold expression made it seem as though he was about to throw her off the balcony.

Averie shivered and instantly knew her reaction was too strong. She nodded, fearing that if she didn't, the man in front of her might actually pick her up and throw her out.

"I'll say it again," the man said, pinching his nose. "Listen to me before you speak."

Averie nodded again, her lips tightly sealed.
