"Don't worry, champ. She will come when she's free; she promised you."

He gave Joey an encouraging smile. “Even if you doubt me, you trust your mom, right?"

Quintin gave Joey's shoulder a reassuring pat. "Your wound still needs tending, and we're fresh out of Band-Aids. I'll run out to grab some, plus a few snacks for late-night munchies. Cool?"

“Okay." Joey nodded, settling onto the sofa, his legs swinging as he gazed up at Quintin with anticipation.
