Craig glanced at her smiling face and then commented, “So you transferred here, huh?"

"Yes. Quite a coincidence, isn't it?" Kathryn extended her hand towards him. "Let's take care of each other from now on, Craig."

Craig looked at her hand, hesitated briefly, then accepted it. “Sure.”

Kathryn had known they attended the same school, but she hadn't expected they'd be in the same class, much less desk mates.

With Craig now beside her in this unfamiliar setting, Kathryn felt an unexpected sense of comfort.
