Raising his head, Alberto scanned the street as Rachel had directed.

There she was, waving at him from across the crosswalk, her smile as radiant as a sunrise.

A faint smile tugged at Alberto's lips as he watched the traffic light turn green. Without hesitation, he crossed the road and enveloped Rachel in his arms.

Her nose filled with his familiar, woodsy scent.

Rachel wrapped her arms around his back. "Alberto, I've been waiting for you forever. What kept you so late tonight?" she asked, gently pushing against his chest to put a little space between them. She gazed up into his eyes, curiosity dancing in her own.
