Quintin and Rachel entered the living room.

"Why did you suddenly agree to let Joe stay here?" Quintin inquired as he filled a glass with water and handed it to Rachel, who settled onto the sofa. He then took a seat on an adjacent sofa and gazed at her, his expression one of bewilderment.

Rachel accepted the glass and took a sip to quench her thirst before explaining, “Joe doesn't want to go back because he fears it might be a long while before he sees me again."

She sighed deeply and added, "Since I moved to Trevinia, this is the longest I've been away from Joe."

Rachel bowed her head, concealing the swirl of emotions in her eyes.
