On the crowded street, a black Bentley sped through traffic at a reckless pace, causing pedestrians to cry out in alarm. The driver's skill, however, prevented disaster.

Humphrey, usually composed, was visibly shaken when he reached Rachel's side.

His face was ashen, a stark contrast to the vivid red blood staining the sofa, an image that would be forever etched in his mind. Without a moment's hesitation, he wrapped Rachel in a quilt and rushed out the door, cradling her in his arms.

He held her tightly, his senses numbed as the world around him faded into silence. His mind was a blank slate, save for one desperate thought: he had to save her.
