Matilda recoiled at his outburst, her heart racing at the sudden ferocity in his voice. She swallowed hard, her body stiff with fear, and before she could stop herself, she answered honestly, “Yes, she's still on the 34th floor. But there's a rescue team on the way."

Before she could say anything else, Moran was already moving. He turned sharply, storming towards the elevator, jabbing the button with a frantic urgency.

But it didn't light up. The elevator was in use, too far down to be of any help.

His face twisted in frustration, and with a sudden outburst, he slammed his fist into the wall.
