Chapter: 652
Susan smiled, tears welling up in her eyes, and everyone felt sad for her. Victor, however, did not. On the day Rachel died, his heart also died.

"You can consider it. Inform Ivan once you've made your decision,"

Victor stated as he checked the time on his phone.

"It's too late today for dinner with your parents. I'll ask Ivan to reserve a restaurant for tomorrow night, and I'll ask the driver to send you back now."

Susan's eyes were red. She moved her lips and muttered, "Okay."

Victor returned to work after she had gone.

His phone abruptly rang.

When he looked at the caller ID, he saw that it was Lukas.

"Lukas," he said as he answered the phone.

"Will you be back tonight, Mr. Sullivan?" Lukas inquired, concerned.

Victor shifted his gaze to the French windows. The sky was black, with barely a few stars visible. He could see the most gorgeous scenery in Apliaria from his office.

He had spent most of his time in the firm during the previous four years and had rarely voluntarily returned to Sue Garden. He wasn't aware that he hadn't been home for several days until Lukas called.

He didn't dare to return. Every corner of the place seemed to have a memory of Rachel.

Lukas was aware that he was in pain and suggested that the items in

Sue Garden be replaced, but Victor refused. He didn't want to eliminate the final remnants of Rachel, no matter how painful it was.

He set his pen down and leaned back.

"What's up?"

"Nothing." After a brief pause, Lukas stated, "Katie jumped into the water this afternoon while the servant didn't notice. The cat has a cold and didn't eat much tonight."

Katie was the cat Victor got for Rachel after searching all of

Apliaria's cathouses.

Rachel recognized that Katie was not the cat she rescued, so she asked Ivan to give it to someone else. Victor remembered it after

Rachel died, and told Ivan to get it back. The cat had been staying in the Sue Garden ever since.

He had no idea why he would take it back, but when he looked at it, the guilt in his heart seemed to ease slightly.

"I'm going home right now." His eyes clouded abruptly. Then, he took up his coat and stood up.

"Okay, but don't be too concerned, Mr. Sullivan. The veterinarian has examined her. She is okay." Lukas' voice came through the phone once more.
