Chapter: 659
But Lukas knew that that was not possible.
Victor could have a child as adorable as Joey had Rachel and their child were still alive.
Eventually, Victor didn't let Joey disinfect the wounds himself.
Knowing that the boy was afraid of pain, he used a cotton stick to gently wipe the wounds with alcohol. In that way, the alcohol would not sting so much.
Joey didn't utter a word. He just took a deep breath when Victor started tending to his scratches.
When he was done, Victor threw the cotton stick into the trash can.
He asked casually, "What's your mommy's phone number?"
The boy looked wary when he heard the question.
Victor noticed the change in Joey's countenance. He was surprised by his reaction but he thought he had to explain himself to the boy.
“Katie scratched you and those scratches were quite deep. While I have disinfected the wounds, you need to spend the night here in case something bad happens. So I need to call your mommy to inform her."
For a while, Joey thought that Victor had realized who he was and wanted to use him to get to his mother.
“I can go back by myself," Joey said, trying to sound dismissive.
"But thanks for asking."
Victor's eyes surveyed Joey coolly. Seeing that the boy would stick to his decision doggedly, he shrugged his shoulders and said,
"Whatever you wish."
Lukas thought differently. He was actually worried for Joey.
“What if your wound gets infected? You should stay the night here."
"Meow!" Katie flexed her claw on Joey's shirt as if she was trying to persuade him to stay.
Joey looked at Lukas’ worried face and then at Katie's claw hooked on the corner of his shirt. He didn't want to leave Katie, yet he was apprehensive about spending the night in Sue Garden. But then again, Victor didn't have an inkling of who he was.
“Fine, I'LL stay here for one night, just one night!"
“Lukas, ask someone to tidy up the guest room," Victor said as he stood up and looked at Joey.
Then, he picked Katie up and went upstairs.
Lukas had been smiling ear-to-ear since Joey agreed to stay. Sue
Garden hadn't had a visitor in a long time.
"Kid, let's go. I'll take you to the guest room and find you some pajamas. Take a shower first and then get some rest," Lukas kindly said.
