Chapter: 704
Clenching his fists, he thought, ‘What was I expecting? How could he ever wait for me at the door? He's hateful, bossy, and tyrannical!
He doesn't even know that I'm his son. He just thinks that I'm his brother's son, a threat to his possession of Sullivan Group.'
Joey believed that Victor loathed his very existence.
As those thoughts crossed his mind, he looked down and replied, “I feel sleepy. I just want to go back to my room and get some rest.”
“Wait, Joe." Seeing that the boy was in a bad mood, Lukas felt compelled to stop him.
Though he knew that what Victor said today was out of kindness, it was harsh and unforgiving to a three-year-old boy.
Upon hearing this, Joey stopped in his tracks, staring at Lukas in confusion.
“What is it, sir?"
"Joe, I know that Mr. Sullivan may have sounded harsh, but he never meant to hurt your feelings," Lukas explained.
"You know, after he said that to you, he felt guilty. So, please don't take those words to heart, okay?"
"He felt guilty, huh?" Joey asked in disbelief.
Naturally, Lukas noticed that the boy refused to believe it. Thus, he stopped trying to explain it to him, and just said, “Come with me,
Joe."
Before Joey could even supply an answer, Lukas had already walked on.
Joey stood in hesitation for a moment before finally deciding to follow him. Soon, they entered the dining room.
"What are we doing in the..." Before Joey could finish his sentence, he noticed that there was a bowl of noodles on the table.
"Mr. Sullivan cooked the bowl of noodles for you, Joe. He felt guilty after you stormed out. The only reason he threw away the noodles before was because he saw how pale your face was. He merely wished to cook another bowl for you. He's not very good with words, and that's probably why he failed to explain it to you before he did it. But I assure you, he never meant to hurt your feelings. On the contrary, I can see how much he cares for you," said Lukas.
Joey stared at the bowl of noodles, lost in thought. ‘Seriously? He cares about me? He threw away the noodles because he wanted to cook another bowl without green onions. Have I misjudged him all this time?’
Joey pressed his lips, unable to figure out what to say. Moments later, he looked up at Lukas.
"Mr, Smith, I."
"Yes, Joe?"
"Where is that-I mean..Mr. Sullivan?"
“It's not his bed time yet, so I'm assuming he's in his study right now," Lukas replied.
Joey nodded. Then, he picked up the bowl of noodles on the table, turned around, and walked out. Lukas wondered what Joey was doing.
"Mr. Sullivan has not eaten anything yet, has he? I'll take these noodles upstairs and share with him," said Joey.
