Chapter: 744
"Something feels off. Didn't Mrs. Sullivan say that Mr. Sullivan got into a car accident? If you ask me, he looks perfectly fine.”
"Yeah, you're right. Did you see the irked look on Mrs. Sullivan's face just now? Do you think she made the accident all up?"
“I don't know. But something strange is definitely going on. Look at her again. Doesn't she seem anxious about today's press conference?
I heard that they're announcing Odin's death today, so I didn't think she'd be here."
“Yeah, you're on to something."
As the gossiping amongst a few reporters grew, more and more people realized that today's press conference was a bit odd.
Meanwhile, Maria was in utter disbelief that Victor had arrived completely unscathed. With her plan ruined, she couldn't stop the disappointment she felt from showing up on her face.
"How is that even possible? I heard his injuries should've landed him in the hospital! Heck, he shouldn't even be breathing right now!'
While Maria was scrambling to figure out what happened, Carson stayed in his seat and showed no interest in the commotion.
However, his carefree attitude quickly disappeared when he saw the woman walking behind Victor.
Carson's eyes widened in shock. He was having so much trouble believing what he saw that he couldn't help but rub his eyes. He waited anxiously for Victor and his entourage to come closer so he could get a clear look at the woman's face. But when it happened, he still couldn't make sense of what was going on.
"Pinch me," Carson whispered to his lackey standing behind him.
“What did you just say, sir?" Thinking he might have heard it wrong, his subordinate responded with skepticism.
"I'm not kidding. Hurry up and pinch me!" urged Carson.
Although Carson's subordinate still couldn't believe that his boss would ask him to do such a silly thing, he mustered up his courage and did it anyway.
After getting pinched in the arm, Carson took a deep breath before exclaiming, "Oh my God, this isn't a dream. This can't be happening!
How is she still alive?"
A few seconds later, Victor finally arrived at the front.
No matter how hard he tried, Carson couldn't take his eyes off
Rachel. But despite being overwhelmingly confused, he managed to open his mouth and ask, “Hey... Is that really you? Or are you a ghost trying to haunt me?"
Rachel glanced at Carson while trying her best not to roll her eyes at him. Instead of responding, she gave him the cold shoulder and went back to minding her own business. While doing so, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a red mark on Victor's cuff, causing the look on her face to darken.
When Maria saw Rachel, her hands clenched, and disbelief showed in her eyes. ‘How can she be here? Why didn't I know that she is back?"
Rachel felt Maria's gaze on her, so she turned her head and looked at her.
Seeing the hostility in Maria's eyes, Rachel felt strange. She stared at Maria for a while.
She had heard of Maria before. She married Victor's father when she was only in her twenties. After she became Mrs. Sullivan, the Kennedy family rose to the upper class.
