Chapter: 751
“You despise me so much. Will you never forgive me even if I give you my life?"
“No, I will never," Rachel replied without any hesitation.
When the ambulance reached the hospital gate, Rachel saw a group of doctors and nurses standing at the entrance to the building, waiting to receive Victor.
When the ambulance stopped, the waiting medical personnel hurried over and rushed Victor to the operating room with a gurney.
Rachel alighted from the ambulance and stared at the dried blood on her hands in a daze. Goosebumps sprouted all over her body, and she looked around for where to wash off the blood. She spotted a bathroom nearby and turned towards it, but two huge bodyguards in suits suddenly appeared and expressionlessly obscured her path.
Rachel's eyes darkened, and she looked back at Ivan.
“I'm sorry, Miss Bennet, but Mr. Sullivan ordered me to keep you here for now," Ivan respectfully said.
Rachel's face fell, and her aura turned even colder. She wanted to wash the blood on her hands off, not leave the hospital. However, even if she wanted to leave the hospital, Victor was in no position to stop her.
What would he do? Repeat what he did four years ago?
“Ivan, I have made myself clear. Get out of the way."
"Miss Bennet..." Ivan knew Rachel's character-if she wanted to leave, nothing in the world, including him, could make her stay. The realization placed Ivan in a dilemma, because Victor-before falling unconscious-had ordered him to keep there.
Rachel saw the distress in Ivan's eyes and felt sorry for him. Her emotions might have gone unchecked since she met Victor, but that was no reason to take her anger out on Ivan. ‘He's only doing what
Victor asked him to,' she thought.
She also knew she couldn't hide from this tough situation.
"I'm not leaving. I just want to wash my hands in the bathroom,"
Rachel said, trying to stay calm.
The operation last two hours.
Rachel leaned against a wall in the long corridor outside the operating room, looking utterly exhausted. She hadn't gotten a wink of sleep since her return.
"Miss Bennet, would you like me to prepare a room for you to rest?"
Ivan asked, walking over with a cup of coffee he had asked his man to prepare for Rachel.
He handed Rachel the steaming cup, and she took a sip right away. As the coffee's bitter taste permeated her mouth, her gaze shifted to the red Light above the door to the operating room, and she shook her head. Then, her thoughts turned to Joey, who Ivan had taken away, and she couldn't help shaking her head.
"Jo..." Rachel began and then paused. She recalled that Ivan and
Victor knew nothing about Joey's relationship with her, so she changed her questions.
"Where's that kid?"
Ivan didn't notice her sudden change. He thought for a moment and replied, “Are you talking about Joey?"
