Chapter: 1009
Everyone's replies were warm and made others feel a twinge of envy.
Amid the reactions, Marlin noticed Norah snuggling up to Sean and began to feel increasingly uncomfortable.
It seemed things were unfolding in an unexpected way. His hand, which had been resting on Dolores's shoulder, withdrew.
He pondered over Norah's words when she walked into the room. Had they met before? Why couldn't he remember any of it?
Lola confessed she felt a bit envious. All the attractive men she admired seemed to be deeply in love.
She sighed, admiring Sean's physique and looks. “It's a bit dull just drinking. We've got a big group here. How about we play some games?" she suggested.
Everyone agreed to Lola's idea.
Dolores' friends were excited to be mingling in such distinguished company. The excitement was noticeable.
Norah, on the other hand, consistently ignored Dolores. She wasn't one to hide her dislike.
It was past eleven in the evening. They all needed to be up early for work the next day, so the gathering had to end.
Lola, with a slightly flushed face, struggled to stay composed and said, "Mr. Scott, Mr. Boyd, until next time. I had a good drink tonight."
Sean nodded and said, "Okay, later."
He then turned to Norah, who was seated on the sofa, and said, “Norah, I need to use the restroom."
Marlin, noticeably tipsy and barely standing straight, said, “Let's head out, Dolores. Time to go home."
He was so drunk that he failed to notice Dolores had stepped out to bid farewell to her friends.
At that moment, only Lola, Norah, and Marlin remained in the private room.
After Sean departed, Lola settled beside Norah.
With a puzzled look, she said, "Miss Wilson, you are a doctor, right?
There probably isn't much for you to discuss with Mr. Scott, is there?"
She bit her lip and added, "Given his status, his bride should ideally come from a wealthy family. But anyway, there are exceptions.
I just think he is outstanding, so I said those words to you. I'm sorry."
Norah replied with a gentle smile, glancing at the unsteady Marlin.
“What's the point of mentioning it? Do you really think Sean and I won't end up together?"
Marlin, quite intoxicated, mistook the voice for Dolores and staggered toward Norah.
