Chapter: 1030
Norah glanced over. There were probably more people inside the van, the windows of which were dark and heavily tinted.
Unfortunately, the men reached her before she could step inside the hotel.
"Our boss wants to talk to you, Miss."
“Are you sure he only wants to talk? Or am I going to be abducted?"
Norah lifted her head, gazing at the two individuals with a subtle, enigmatic smile.
The two burly men glanced at the surveillance cameras positioned at the hotel's entrance, noticing the steady flow of passersby.
Abducting a woman in such a public place would be a blatant challenge to the authorities. Their leader had explicitly instructed them to avoid attracting any attention from law enforcement at all costs.
"Miss, our leader wishes to meet with you. He has no intention of causing you any harm.
"You might convince a three-year-old with that line. No, on second thought, even a toddler wouldn't fall for that."
Norah sidestepped the duo and confidently strode toward the hotel entrance.
“Regardless of your intentions, relay a message to your leader from me, he'll regret it if he provokes me."
Her commanding presence and assured words caused the two men to freeze in place, merely observing as she entered the hotel.
“Boss, we failed to apprehend her."
“What a waste!"
A middle-aged man, sporting dark sunglasses, smacked the two on their heads with considerable force.
"It's merely a woman! How could you possibly fail? This contract is valued at 100 million dollars. I expect her before me by tomorrow, or you'll be eliminated."
His merciless declaration sent shivers down their spines. By ‘eliminated’, he meant they would be removed from existence.
“We assure you, we will accomplish the task!"
Later that night, a faint sound reached Norah's ears. It was so subtle that one would miss it if not paying close attention.
She slightly peeled her eyes open and rubbed her cheeks briskly to fully awaken herself.
She knew the assassin had arrived.
An intruder entered through the window of her room, which was situated on the 20th floor.
The intruder moved with such stealth that his footsteps were even quieter than a ticking clock in the dead of night.
He was unaware of Norah's exact location. He searched multiple rooms before finally entering Norah's bedroom.
