Chapter: 1141
Was there someone else with them who needed to remain hidden? What prompted them to hide that person?
Norah's mind swirled with questions, each one breeding more uncertainty.
To prevent her from returning to Glophia, Hank took drastic measures by hiring assassins through underground networks. Hanley had warned that as long as Norah remained in Silverdale, the danger of abduction Loomed.
Would Norah simply wait for her fate? She would not.
Upon returning, Norah, with JW's assistance, infiltrated the network of that organization. She pinpointed several hideouts and promptly forwarded these locations to the police, hoping to keep the organization busy for a while.
She hadn't encountered Marlin since his confession. Occasionally, she would meet with Yolande and Rosalee, who invited her for outings.
Jarrod, ever the workaholic, left the hospital prematurely after just a week.
Reflecting on her recent preoccupations with Ivy's case, Norah realized she hadn't contacted Joanna in days and wondered how Susanna was doing.
When she tried calling, all she got was a busy signal.
Joanna did not pick up the phone.
Norah furrowed her brow in concentration. She dialed Joanna's number, but there was no answer, which struck her as odd.
Joanna never missed calls. She always held her phone in her hand.
Her phone was practically an extension of her.
Concerned, Norah immediately phoned Alice.
"Joanna? I haven't seen her recently. What's up with her?" Alice replied on the other end of the line. "The band's on tour, and I'm swamped. I don't even have time to visit Susanna in the hospital,"
Alice replied briskly.
Norah heard faint musical tones in the background and surmised Alice was rehearsing. Not wanting to intrude, she kept her conversation brief and then ended the call.
She tried calling Joanna again. Still, there was no response.
With her grip tightening on the phone, Norah dialed Bryson. She hoped he might know Joanna's whereabouts.
"Norah. What's up? I wasn't expecting your call." Bryson's tired voice came through the Line.
"I tried calling Joanna, but she hasn't answered. Is something wrong? I need to speak with her." Norah leaned against the wall. Her eyes were fixated on the green plants outside the window.
Bryson gulped nervously and let out a sigh. "Norah, Joanna's in trouble."
Norah's eyes widened in surprise. She straightened up, and her face turned grim when Bryson recounted what had happened to Nora.
"That can't be right!" she exclaimed in alarm. "Joanna would never do that!"
