Chapter: 1153
After her fall down the stairs, she was fortunate that she didn't miscarry.

Actually, Sharon was one to be blamed for Madeline's miscarriage. She didn't hire a caregiver nor did she look after Madeline herself, which led to Madeline slipping in the bathroom the next day and losing the baby.

Only Madeline and Sharon knew the true circumstances.

Sharon insisted that Joanna was to blame to secure the best possible compensation.

Derek comforted Madeline with a pat on her back, an uncommon gesture of him taking his mother's side.

"They're denying it because they're scared. Madeline, don't worry. I will ensure justice is served."

Madeline's gaze grew darker. Was this really about her, or was it just a way for him to secure more resources?

As Bryson and Joanna left the hospital room, he affectionately rubbed her hair.

“Oh. You really have matured. I was half expecting you to break down just now."

Joanna pulled out her phone and made a call. “I've already told you, I can handle it myself! I'm not that fragile."

If Norah was by her side, she would definitely pat her head and say that she did a good job.

“Why isn't Norah answering her phone? This isn't like her."

Joanna tapped on her phone screen. “Luckily, I got Gemma's number when I was in Silverdale last time. She mentioned she's a fan of Norah."

She managed to connect with Gemma successfully.

"Joanna, I was at the cardiac surgery department this afternoon. The director Toby mentioned that Norah had left yesterday afternoon and has gone back to Glophia."

Joanna gripped her phone, doubtful. “She has returned to Glophia?"

“It seems so. Toby mentioned she was rushing because something urgent came up with her friends."

“Okay. Thank you."

After ending the call, Joanna offered a forced smile to Bryson, who was watching her with concern.

“Bryson, it looks Like something's wrong with Norah."

“Mr. Scott, here's your coffee."

Sean accepted the cup and took a deep gulp. The coffee made him awake.

He had been sitting outside the hospital room for nearly the entire night.

Things had been rough lately. First, there was a split between Norah and him. Then, his long-cherished project fell through. To top it off, Susanna ended up in the ICU after cutting her wrist again.
