Norah smirked and weighed in. “Simply involving the police will unearth the truth. There's no need to complicate matters."

The only reason for Norah's lingering was to see how the Carter family would deal with Kathy and Madeline.

Juliana clutched Norah's hand and implored, "Norah, can we keep the police out of this and settle the matter amongst ourselves? I know you're the victim, but the Carter family..."

Norah was always aware that the Carter family's reputation meant a lot to Juliana. If the police weren't involved, she would at least be able to protect the family's reputation.

“I'm begging you. Please." Juliana lowered her head.

Norah could feel Juliana's hands shaking, and the plea in her voice was clear.

Norah couldn't help but feel torn. Juliana was someone who really cared about her. It was going to be hard to turn down Juliana's plea.

However, Norah was set on teaching Kathy a well-deserved lesson.

Kathy was sitting on the floor and crying her eyes out. Beside Kathy, Madeline pulled off her usual acting of playing innocent. Derek simply looked at Madeline pitifully. As Norah took in the scene, an indescribable emotion washed through her body.

Generally speaking, Norah wouldn't feel this intense fury when faced with Kathy's insult and Madeline's acting.

However, by striking a deal with Fox Alliance to kidnap and harm her, Kathy and Madeline had gone too far this time around. If Norah hadn't gone toe to toe with her kidnappers and managed to escape promptly, she might be dead now. Taking that into account, Norah couldn't suppress the anger she had against the duo.

"You knew the situation well enough, Juliana. The fact that I'm still standing here today is nothing short of a miracle. If these two criminals' plans had worked, I would have died! You know how well- behaved I've been since I joined this family, how good I've been to your grandson. And now that we are getting divorced, see what they did to me. Or, do you think I deserve what they had done to me?"

Norah fumed.

So powerful was Norah's voice, that when she stopped talking, every member of the Carter family was quiet and simply exchanged glances with each other.

Juliana trembled a little and glanced at Derek, wondering how everything had descended into chaos. The last time she talked to him in the study, she had made it clear to him that she was expecting a positive result, not this! She knew for sure that Madeline was involved in what had happened. In fact, from the way she saw it, Madeline was the mastermind behind the kidnapping attempt. Kathy was too much of an innocent and obedient girl to come up with such an idea.

“Hey, watch your tone. Perhaps you've forgotten that you are the reason why your marriage hasn't borne any fruit. You aren't getting a divorce because of some evil scheme against you. The divorce is because the Carter family doesn't want to have anything to do with a barren woman!" Sharon argued. Though she had no idea about Derek's affairs and doings, she wouldn't pass any opportunity to mock Norah.

“Have you thought for a moment that your beloved son might just be the problem?" Norah sneered.

At that moment, Derek raised his head, faced Sharon and said, “Norah isn't to blame for our childless state."

Hearing this, Sharon raised her eyebrows and hastily asked, "Are you saying that you're the problem?"

Embarrassed, Derek and Madeline looked down, trying to avoid meeting anyone's eyes. If anyone wanted to know if Derek's capability on the bed was sufficient, they would look at either of them for answers.

Madeline swallowed hard, not daring to say a word, and glanced at Derek, pleading him with her big watery eyes to say something.

"I don't have a problem. It's just that... I and Norah didn't have sex during the two years of our marriage," Derek finally replied.

Juliana and Sharon stared at Derek as if he had gone crazy. Why on earth wouldn't he do anything with such a beautiful wife, for two years?
