Chapter: 278
As Norah studied the man, she came to the sudden realization of the man's identity. He was a member of a foreign mercenary group known as Cheetah. The group specialized in missions involving bounty, assassination, and plundering.

"Hello, Joanna, your brother informed me that you've woken up. How are you doing?" the man asked as he walked up directly to Joanna without even glancing at Norah. His voice was surprisingly soft and gentle, almost as if he was afraid that he would startle Joanna.

Joanna smiled weakly at the man and softly mumbled, “Duncan, What brings you here?"

"I got wind of your injuries from your brother. I rushed all the way here as soon as he told me that you've woken up," Duncan said as he placed the items that he had with him on the cabinet next to the bed.

Then, turning to face Joanna, he asked solemnly, “How come you can't handle a simple knife after all of the training that I've given you?"

Joanna lowered her head and softly replied, “It happened in the blink of an eye before I could..."

Duncan shook his head vigorously, interrupting her, "You were careless, Joanna! You could have been mortally wounded!"

Even though Joanna knew fully well that Duncan only had her best interests at heart, she still somewhat felt a little aggrieved. With tears welling up in her eyes, she said, “I get it."

Back when the incident occurred, Joanna had intended to save that innocent child and overpower the crazy man who held the knife. But in the end, her efforts were futile and she almost lost her life while the crazy man opted to end his own life.

Duncan had always been strict with his students when it came to discipline and hard work, but seeing Joanna so heartbroken, he couldn't bring himself to be his usual harsh self.

Duncan softened his voice. "I'm not saying these things just to scold you. I want you to be able to protect yourself. When I heard that you were hurt badly, I felt the training I had urged you to go through didn't meet the desired outcome. I regretted not training you well enough."

Joanna choked up her sobs and replied, "No, it's not like that...

It's just... It's because I'm not skilled enough. It had nothing to do with you..."

Norah couldn't help but glance at Duncan. Apart from being Joanna's coach, Duncan was also a retired famous mercenary abroad. Norah realized not only did Duncan possess a strong physique and abilities, but he also seemed to care about Joanna.

Duncan could only sigh in resignation. "By the way, doctor, how is Joanna's condition?"

Thinking that it was the best chance, Joanna quickly introduced the two of them to each other. "Duncan, this is my idol, Norah Wilson.

Norah, this is my coach, Duncan Garcia."

"Hello, Mr. Garcia."

"Hello, Dr. Wilson."

Nodding lightly, they exchanged a simple greeting.

Joanna added, “Norah was the one who saved me. She knows everything about my condition, so I'm in good hands."

The truth was that Joanna was getting anxious since Duncan's unannounced arrival interrupted her chat with Norah. She was desperate to hear from Norah about what had transpired during her absence. Hence, she looked at Norah, gesturing with her watery eyes.

Norah immediately caught on and butted in, “Mr. Garcia, Joanna has just woken up and still needs to rest. Once you finish your visit, I must ask you to leave so that I can examine her thoroughly."

Duncan didn't doubt Norah's words. "Alright, I'll take my leaving now.
