Chapter: 306
After agreeing, Norah returned to her desk to finish some paperwork before going to her next surgery. By the time the surgery ended, her work day was over.

As planned, Norah arrived at the hospital's rooftop.

The wind was always stronger on the rooftop. As Norah climbed up, her hair swirled around her, and her white coat's hem made a loud noise.

“Dr. Padilla, how can I help you today?" Norah moved closer to Baylor, hands tucked in her pockets.

Norah and Baylor, having worked together at the hospital for some time, were just regular colleagues. But Norah had started to see Baylor in a slightly more positive light, especially after his supportive comments in a recent group discussion.

Even though Norah suspected Baylor was the writer of the anonymous letter, she hadn't found any proof yet and chose to keep her suspicions to herself until she did.

Baylor glanced over at Norah, admiring her beauty and acknowledging her competence as a doctor. He admitted she was talented since he had witnessed firsthand in many operations they had done together.

“Last time, we talked about the promotion to attending physician.

Today, Jamison told me the position is mine." Baylor faced Norah, trying to read her expression. "I know you were supposed to get that promotion, Dr. Wilson."

Baylor slowly said, “I saw Dr. Austin handing a report to the hospital director's office, and the next day, I was promoted."

“So, you imply that Dr. Austin wrote the anonymous letter, Dr.

Padilla?" Norah's expression turned cold as she said with a hint of scorn.

"Yes, I thought it over and decided you should know. Don't be fooled by Dr. Austin, Dr. Wilson."

“Okay, I've got it. Thank you for letting me know, Dr. Padilla."

Understanding the situation, Norah didn't wish to stay and talk more with Baylor. She left the rooftop with a stern face.

Baylor returned to the department with a smug smile, only to be greeted by Jolie's unhappy face.

“Hey, Dr. Padilla, congratulations on the promotion. You've been all smiles today," Jolie remarked.

Baylor sat down confidently and said, “Am I supposed to cry over a promotion? You're quite the comedian, Dr. Austin."

Jolie clenched her teeth, finding Baylor's newfound arrogance even more irritating. Despite her unwitting help with his promotion, he showed no appreciation and treated her dismissively.

“Well, congratulations, Dr. Padilla." Jolie's congratulations came out strained and insincere, her eyes betraying her true feelings. She started to plot her next move.

Norah decided to investigate and find out who was behind the anonymous letter, not just take Baylor's word for it.

Norah went to Kason's ward. Her previous visits were met with his sleepy state. This time, she was relieved to find Kason awake.

“Norah, you're here." Upon spotting Norah's entrance, Kason's eyes instantly tracked her. Given Kason's weak state from his injuries, Kaiden slightly adjusted the bed so Kason could sit up a bit, making communication easier.

Norah checked on Kason, noticing his leg's wound was especially bad and would need a lot of time to heal.
