Chapter: 331
“Auntie...”
Norah knelt down, slightly surprised. “Shayla, where's your mom?"
Norah wondered how a two-year-old could wander alone in a crowded banquet hall. It would be problematic if someone mistakenly took her away.
"Daddy Come... Mommy... Angry... Me... I want... Auntie...
Shayla's words were a bit jumbled, but Norah managed to grasp the gist of it. Shayla's father had showed up. He was the man who had tricked Luna into losing her virginity and becoming pregnant before marriage.
Standing up and holding Shayla's hand, Norah said, “Come on. I'll help you find your dad." She hadn't met Shayla's father before, so this was the perfect chance to see him.
“Okay, let's find daddy!" Shayla couldn't help but smile broadly, feeling close to Norah.
Luna, despite her scheming nature, managed to raise Shayla who seemed comfortable with everyone, posing a potent threat of Shayla being kidnapped.
Despite her small age, Shayla easily remembered the route.
Walking through the same floor of the hotel and after making a few turns in the corridors, Norah caught Luna's sharp voice.
“Dooley Boyd, you vowed to treat me well for a lifetime, and Shayla is barely two. How could you even think about bringing another woman into her life as a stepmother? I won't accept it!"
“Luna, I need you to hear me out. We don't have feelings for each other anymore. Dragging this out serves no purpose. Now that you're back with your family, take some time to think things over. Once you're ready, we can finalize the divorce. I want to take care of Shayla." Dooley's voice was deep and devoid of emotion, a striking contrast to Luna's heated outburst, which made him seem all the more composed. "I came here just to discuss the divorce with you."
“Have you forgotten the reputation I have in Glophia because of you?
So, just because you have no feelings for me now, all my sacrifices mean nothing? Three years of my life, for crying out loud! Think about our child, Dooley. How did we get to this point?" Luna's voice suddenly turned softer, as she began to beg Dooley to reconsider the divorce.
"Dooley, you still love me, don't you?" Luna cast a pleading look at Dooley.
Luna choked out as she spoke. "I brought Shayla back to Glophia for my father's birthday celebration. I have no ulterior motives, Dooley.
Can't we avoid divorce? Shayla is so young, and she can't grow properly without me or you. A stepmother won't treat her well. Look at her. She's so adorable and so much like you. How can you do this to her?"
Luna's tearful plea prompted Shayla's concern. Breaking free from Norah's grasp, Shayla rushed over. "Mommy, don't cry."
Only at that moment did Luna truly notice Shayla. Overwhelmed, she embraced Shayla, tears streaming down her face.
Norah, turning a corner, caught sight of a suited man, appearing refined and tall. His handsome features explained the depth of Luna's affection.
“Finally met the rumored Mr. Boyd," Norah remarked with a clear and crisp voice, drawing Dooley's attention.
The stunning Norah, adorned in a red fishtail gown, resembled an enchanting fairy, her fiery red Lips the most vibrant hue. She firmly held Dooley's gaze, captivating him with her beauty, causing a momentary pause in his response.
“Who are you?" Dooley asked.
This marked their initial encounter. When Norah entered the Wilson family, Dooley acted like a coward, not even coming to the Wilson family's residence. He had left Luna to confront familial expectations all alone.
