Chapter: 652
Trudy had gone to the market earlier to pick up fresh ingredients for a meal.
She remembered how much Norah used to enjoy her cooking.
"I've prepared your favorite dishes. Try some."
As Trudy handed Norah the cutlery, she smiled. Norah gave the dishes spread out on the table a blank stare. These were the same dishes she had praised as delicious during her previous visits.
Furthermore, it was obvious that Trudy still recalled her fondness for coriander and had generously added it to the meals.
The table boasted an array of dishes designed to suit her tastes.
"Mrs. Davies, you've cooked so much, we won't be able to finish all this," Norah remarked.
"Don't worry about it. As long as you enjoy the food, that's all that matters. Try some," Trudy urged, watching Norah with hopeful eyes.
Under her encouraging look, Norah sampled each dish, finding them as delightful as always.
“This tastes wonderful. I really like it," she commented after each taste, bringing a smile to Trudy's face.
Though these dishes weren't the fancy fare of a restaurant, Norah found the home-cooked meals exceptionally tasty.
During the meal, Norah shared updates about her recent life.
“I'm glad you are divorced. Ever since you married, I've hardly seen you. It seems like you've been struggling in that family, my dear."
Trudy's eyes brimmed with concern. She cared for Norah as though she were her own granddaughter.
Their lack of blood relation didn't diminish the genuine affection they shared for each other.
Norah had never shared her life in the Carter family with anyone.
She swallowed her food and blinked, keeping her emotions in check.
"You are right, Mrs. Davies."
Perhaps her previous arrogance was why she had faced so much heartache.
After what went down between her and Derek, Norah saw things and people in a whole new light.
“Let's not talk about that now. Come on, eat up," Trudy said. They didn't want Norah to dwell on unpleasant memories; they just wanted her to enjoy a good meat.
After the meal, Norah felt she had overeaten and was stuffed.
Trudy, having not seen Norah for a while, was overly hospitable.
Gil placed a glass of hawthorn juice in front of Norah and said, “Silly girl, you should stop eating when you're full. Why push yourself?"
