Chapter: 136
“I think I've sprained my ankle. It's so painful. I can hardly stand."

Seizing the moment, Ashley leaned on Alan, her red lipstick leaving a faint mark on his shirt.

Her actions were discreet, so Alan seemed oblivious.

“Let's get you to a hospital." Alan assisted her up, maintaining a careful distance.

Ashley grimaced, drawing sharp breaths to emphasize her discomfort.

“Alan, I can't walk. Could you carry me?"

Alan's expression tightened, but he remained firm. "The car is just outside. You'll make it."

Ashley did not protest further and limped towards the car.

Once they arrived at the hospital, her ankle received prompt attention, and Alan was ready to Leave.

“I'll have my assistant drive you home. I've got a meeting this afternoon and need to be on time," he said.

Despite Ashley's pleading gaze, Alan left the hospital without a backward glance.

Rather than heading back to the company, he made his way to the Oasis Studio.

Ever since they returned from the island, Kaitlin had been dodging his calls.

Clutching a bouquet of vivid roses, he entered the studio, drawing curious looks from the employees.

Phoebe, always keen on gossip, quickly approached him with a smirk.

"Mr. Hewitt, it's quite the honor to have you here."

"I'm here to see Kaitlin. Is she around?" Alan asked, peering towards Kaitlin's office.

Phoebe blocked his view with a swift wave of her hand. "Kaitlin's deep into her sketches. She might not have time for you right now."

“What? She really shouldn't be pushing herself so much." Alan's frown deepened, and he strode past Phoebe towards the office.

Phoebe hastened to keep up. “I'm not against you visiting, but I'm concerned you two might end up arguing again. Have you resolved the issue about your first crush from the other day?"

Alan halted. "Is Kaitlin still upset about that?"

Phoebe fought back an eye roll and explained patiently, "Of course she's upset. It's about your true love who reappeared. Don't you think Kaitlin deserves an explanation?"

Seeing his troubled look, Phoebe felt compelled to nudge him further.

“Kaitlin might not demand it, but you should take the initiative. If you let this slide, you'll lose your place in her heart. After all, only a jealous person who truly cares would react so strongly."
