Chapter: 165
"You and our child are my whole world now."

His ears flushed with warmth, and he coughed to mask his embarrassment.

Anyone else witnessing this rare display would surely be astounded.

Kaitlin watched him intently for a few moments before bursting into uncontrollable laughter.

The tension melted away, and Alan breathed a sigh of relief.

It turned out Yvette's advice was quite effective; he just had to set aside his pride.

At times, it took a real effort to push himself.

“Kaitlin, do you believe me now?" he asked.

Kaitlin's laughter ceased, and her face grew serious. “Ashley works at one of your subsidiaries and always seems to require your protection. It's challenging not to be suspicious," Kaitlin replied, her tone grave.

Alan caught the underlying concern and responded with a firm promise.

"I'll ensure everyone at the subsidiary understands there's nothing between us. I'll have it officially clarified so the rumors stop. If you're doubtful, just watch what I do next. I'll prove my fidelity to you, okay?"

Kaitlin snorted, her features softening slightly. "It better be. What's your plan for Beth?" she asked.

Alan locked eyes with her, a silent understanding passing between them. "If Grandma insists on seeing Miguel, then she can. Without his influence, he won't be able to cause trouble in Osewood."

Kaitlin remained quiet. This issue was a family one, and strictly speaking, she wasn't involved. She preferred not to share her thoughts on the matter.

“Kaitlin, you're not going back to your apartment?" Alan inquired.

She nodded and replied, "I'll be at Phoebe's place. What makes you ask?"

"It's hardly ideal to stay at someone else's home."

Kaitlin dismissed the concern with a wave of her hand. "That's for me to decide. Until things settle down with Ashley, don't come looking for me."

As she turned to leave, she suddenly remembered something about Beth.

“Let me know if anything happens to Beth. She was family, after all. But since you're allowing Miguel back, her condition probably won't worsen too quickly."

With her piece said, Kaitlin walked away.

Alan chose not to intervene this time, sensing that Kaitlin's spirits had lifted noticeably.

He realized that settling matters with Ashley was imperative and could no longer be delayed.

For the next few days, Alan remained at the Hewitt family's mansion to keep his grandmother company. During his stay, Ashley arrived, intent on visiting Beth.
