Chapter: 210
"Ashley, dry your tears. Owen has been apprehended," Alan said.
Ashley's face drained of color, then quickly brightened with relief and happiness. "Alan, is that really true?"
"He kidnapped Kaitlin last night and claimed you told him to," Alan said.
Ashley responded, shaking her head emphatically, “That's impossible. I've been avoiding him at all costs. How could I possibly have given him any instructions? Alan, this has to be part of his plan to set me up, a twist in his plot for revenge. It's so vicious!"
Tears rolled down Ashley's cheeks as she stepped closer to Alan, her expression one of profound distress.
"Alan, you have to believe me. We've been known each other for years. You know the sort of person I am," she pleaded.
After Ashley left Alan's office, he hadn't openly declared his trust in her.
Yet, from what she knew of him, Ashley felt almost sure he believed her story.
She headed to the restroom to gather her thoughts.
As she stared at her reflection in the mirror, a sly smile of satisfaction crept across Ashley's face.
Ashley's plan was carefully crafted. Even when Owen, that fool, botched the kidnapping, she would not be implicated.
She could even take of the situation to sow distrust between Alan and Kaitlin.
Ashley couldn't help but swell with pride.
Alan was likely digging into her ties with Owen, and that was where Miguel would prove useful.
Miguel could obliterate any evidence.
Indeed, if it involved making Alan suffer, Miguel would be meticulous.
Ashley glanced at the messages on her phone and smiled with satisfaction.
Miguel had acted swiftly, ensuring Alan found no leads back to her.
Her life would proceed as smoothly as before.
Phoebe turned up no new leads, but she unearthed a critical piece of information-the kidnapper was Ashley's former husband.
Once Kaitlin recuperated, she stormed into Alan's office to confront him directly.
Ashley was present as well.
"Ashley, your ex-husband kidnapped me. Can you honestly claim you're not involved?" Kaitlin demanded, her stare icy.
Ashley looked towards Alan, who was watching Kaitlin with evident concern.
