Chapter: 229
Shawn was taken aback but regained his composure instantly. He poured a cup of coffee and explained, "No, he's merely my assistant's relative. His family is facing some difficulties, and since he was here, I took the opportunity to ask a few questions."
Kaitlin nodded, her earlier use of the word client a deliberate test of her suspicions.
The man's plain attire and downtrodden demeanor didn't seem to fit the profile of someone Shawn would typically meet with-certainly not a client.
If he truly was a distressed relative of the assistant, that would explain his presence more logically.
Yet, his behavior puzzled her. His avoidance of her and hasty exit suggested he was escaping something.
Kaitlin's thoughts raced, each more curious than the last, yet she set them aside.
Shawn addressed her. "Kaitlin, is there something specific you needed?"
Brought back to the moment, Kaitlin presented the design drafts to Shawn. "Here are the finalized designs. Please review them, Mr. Murphy. If there are any adjustments needed, I'll have my team on it immediately."
Shawn scrutinized the design drafts and found them to be satisfactory.
His confidence in Kaitlin was unwavering. "No issues here. Let's move forward with these plans," he declared.
Kaitlin, expecting his endorsement, nodded and proceeded to outline the next steps, ensuring they were both aligned on the project's direction.
Shawn paid attention, interjecting with his thoughts occasionally.
As the expert on the Osewood market, Kaitlin offered practical advice that was grounded in her extensive knowledge.
They spent considerable time in the office discussing the particulars, cementing the plan for their upcoming endeavors.
When Kaitlin noticed the late hour, she began to gather her things.
"Mr. Murphy, I should get going now. We'll stay in contact should anything arise."
As she made to leave, Shawn stood and stalled her departure.
“How about dinner? I've just returned to Osewood and haven't sampled the local cuisine yet. You must know the best spots, Kaitlin. Care to show me around?" he suggested.
Kaitlin paused for a moment before agreeing.
Given that Shawn had previously assisted her and was now her client, it seemed appropriate to accept his invitation.
Deciding on the Sky Tower, a notable spot famed for its stunning views and delectable fare, she felt confident about her choice.
Even though it typically was a challenging place to book, Kaitlin's well-regarded status in Osewood ensured they secured a reservation with ease.
They set off together, with Kaitlin opting to drive.
Shawn glanced at her and casually offered, “How about let me drive? It might be a bit cumbersome for you at the moment, wouldn't it?"
