Chapter: 242
"I'm warning you, if you tip off Alan about me, you're dead," Owen hissed.

After a pause, he grabbed her chin roughly. “And before that, I'll slit your face open and make sure you regret ever crossing me," he threatened through clenched teeth.

With a violent shove, he pushed her to the floor.

Ashley collapsed, her body wracked with sobs as Owen continued his plunder.

He collected jewelry, designer bags, and even custom-made dresses.

Anything of value was fair game.

Before he left, Owen turned to Ashley with a menacing grin.

“Remember when you hired me to put on a show? Doesn't this scene look familiar?" he asked with a chuckle, satisfaction coloring his tone as he reminisced about their past. “It was all just an act then. Now, look how the tables have turned. Isn't it ironic?"

Owen was quite pleased with his loot. He was confident he had secured enough for him to gamble for some time.

As for Ashley, he left her there, sprawled and helpless, without a second thought.

After Owen's departure, Ashley made up her mind.

At that moment, Alan and Kaitlin were enjoying dinner at Alan's residence when his phone abruptly rang.

Glancing at the caller ID, Alan dismissed the call with a quick tap.

Kaitlin noticed it and raised an eyebrow. "It's Ashley, isn't it?" she asked.

Alan served some food onto Kaitlin's plate. Before he could explain, the phone rang again.

“She won't stop calling. Just answer it," Kaitlin said curtly.

She was clearly annoyed.

With a sigh, Alan picked up the phone and activated the speaker.

“What's the matter?" he asked directly.

Ashley's sobs were audible over the phone. "Alan, Owen came to me," she said between tears.

Kaitlyn and Alan exchanged glances.

“Where?” Alan's voice took on a stern tone.

"He just left my place. He demanded money, took everything valuable, and... he hit me," Ashley recounted.

Her voice trembled with fear, and her sobs intensified.
