Chapter: 256
Kaitlin smirked. “If I hadn't come, I would have missed this entertaining scene.”

Her gaze shifted to Ashley. "Such a shame you're not in acting," she taunted.

"You..." Ashley bit her lip, struggling to stay composed, not wanting to shatter her refined image. She swallowed her retort.

"I'm going to set things straight today: stop hanging around Alan. He's way out of your league, even if I don't want him!"

Alan's expression soured at her words. "Kaitlin," he said sternly.

Kaitlin scoffed, "What? Am I wrong? We're divorced, aren't you the man I walked away from?"

Alan exhaled sharply, frustration evident. “Enough, calm down."

He then addressed Ashley. “You should leave now."

Ashley's face lost even more color. After being humiliated by Kaitlin in front of Alan, she was the one being dismissed.

Why?

Ashley said, "Alan.."

“Leave. Unless it's business-related, don't come back to my office,"

Alan said firmly.

With a look of deep resentment, Ashley turned and walked out.

The office door slammed behind her with a resounding thud.

Kaitlin's sense of satisfaction grew as her anger faded away.

Alan walked over and gently guided her to sit on the sofa. "Why are you letting this upset you so much? Even if you hadn't shown up today, I would've sent her away. Kaitlin, relax. There won't be any more drama with Ashley from my end."

Meanwhile, as they exchanged tender words in the office, Ashley, recently expelled, received a call from an unfamiliar number.

Her heart sank as she recognized the voice on the other end.

“Ashley, you really dared to mention me to Alan," Owen said, causing her legs to buckle.

She nearly ended the call, her finger hovering over the disconnect button, but Owen's next words stopped her. "Keep listening, or I swear I'll ruin your life."

With reluctance, Ashley didn't hang up. Instead, she sought out a quiet corner and responded, “Owen, what is it that you want?"

"You still have to ask?"

Owen's voice was cold, sending shivers down her spine.
