Chapter: 258
Ashley's eyes widened as she was taken aback. She hadn't anticipated it would be Shawn.
The partnership between Murphy Group and Oasis Jewelry was buzzing throughout Osewood, and Kaitlin was constantly in the Limelight.
Ashley seethed with jealousy. She had initially believed that the president of Murphy Group showed particular kindness to Kaitlin, but now it appeared he had ties with Owen as well.
The underlying motives were shrouded in mystery and complexity.
"Ashley, did you hear what I said? Get the money ready!"
“Alright, I'll arrange the transfer today," Ashley responded curtly, then ended the call.
She sat back, deep in thought about her next move concerning Shawn.
Forming a partnership with him could prove highly advantageous.
Despite her hesitations, Ashley knew she had to settle the payment.
Owen might have been worthless in her eyes, but even the most desperate could stir up issues.
She wanted to avoid any further complications.
With a plan forming in her mind, Ashley made her way back to her office.
Meanwhile, Alan didn't linger long with Kaitlin and soon resumed his duties.
Before she departed, Kaitlin mentioned Shawn.
"I never expected Shawn to treat me as a stand-in, which is why he's been so attentive," she explained, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Kaitlin struggled to grasp Shawn's logic.
Even if two people bore a physical resemblance, their true natures could be vastly different.
Shawn poured emotions into Kaitlin whom he considered a stand-in, which meant he neither valued his own feelings nor regarded her.
It was downright irrational.
"That's just an excuse," Alan muttered, his voice laced with disdain.
Kaitlin nodded in agreement. "It's baffling to me, but I've decided to steer clear of Shawn from here on out. It's unsettling to think he sees someone else when he looks at me."
Alan gave a knowing laugh. "You're making the right call. Head on back now. Once I've sorted out the company's problems, I'll swing by the studio to pick you up each day."
Kaitlin turned, her cheeks flushed with a shy smile. "No need for that. I'm heading out now."
With those words, she exited the office, and Alan watched her depart.
