Chapter: 266
After a pause, he added, "Just be yourself, Kaitlin. I'll take care of the rest."
Kaitlin's frustration eased slightly, and she followed Alan out with a reluctant snort.
Despite the last-minute nature of the press conference, the news had already spread so widely that numerous reporters attended uninvited.
Alan had instructed to make the event as grand as_ possible, emphasizing not to worry about the details.
Nonetheless, Dylan couldn't help but feel anxious about the unfolding events.
Soon enough, Alan's car pulled up to the conference venue, instantly drawing the attention of a swarm of reporters who quickly encircled the vehicle.
The sudden burst of camera flashes startled Kaitlin inside the car.
“Why did you bring me here? With all these reporters, what's going on?" she asked, visibly annoyed.
Alan responded with a calm smile. He exited the car first, then turned and extended his hand to Kaitlin.
Taking a deep breath and pausing briefly, Kaitlin finally grasped Alan's hand and stepped into the flashing lights.
The rapid clicks of camera shutters filled the air.
“Mr. Hewitt, Ms. Gilbert, is the story circulating online true?" one reporter called out.
“Mr. Hewitt, what prompted this emergency press conference? What are you aiming to clarify?" another asked.
“Mr. Hewitt, can we get a direct response?" a third pressed.
Despite the bodyguards’ efforts to clear a path, Alan and Kaitlin were buffeted by the crowd.
Alan protectively wrapped his arm around Kaitlin. "Please, everyone, be patient. I'll address all your questions in just a moment," he said, raising a hand to signal the reporters to give them space.
The reporters quieted down following Alan's announcement.
Kaitlin's expression showed her surprise; she hadn't expected Alan to call a press conference just to address the swirling rumors.
Certainly, this would put an end to the rumors, but wouldn't it also thrust their relationship into the spotlight?
Kaitlin felt a pang of dissatisfaction.
After all, she hadn't yet agreed to remarry. It seemed to her that Alan was using the situation to his own benefit.
With so many watching, however, she knew showing anger wasn't an option. She decided they would have a private talk later.
Once they were inside, Alan motioned for her to sit down.
He then began speaking to the gathered media without any further delay.
